Kindergarten Blog Stars 2009/2010

After reading the book Pezzettino by Leo Lionni, Kindergarten artists created their own creatures using special paper. Each student named their creature, and then created a background with watercolor paints.

Fifth Grade Blog Stars 2009/2010

After examining and discussing the techniques of Aboriginal art and "Dreamtime" Australian animals and stories, 5th grade artists created these inspired artworks. We chose a more modern color palette using Crayola gel markers on black paper.

Fourth Grade Blog Stars 2009/2010

Fourth Grade artists studied the life and art of illustrator Maurice Sendak. After looking closely at the scenes of the famous book Where the Wild Things Are, students created their very own wild rumpus scenes.

They also studied the life and work of artist Roy Lichtenstein. The project began when students took turns writing down adjectives to describe each of their classmates. Next, each student reviewed the list of adjectives that were written and chose one to incorporate into a self-portrait.

Second Grade Blog Stars 2009/2010

Second Grade artists studied the life and work of artist Paul Klee. After creating a composition on paper using pencils, rulers, and circular shapes, the students experimented with mixing watercolors. Check out the color studies below!
